Job summary

West Tennessee Healthcare is seeking a Nurse Intern who will work under supervision to provide patient care and support clinical development while completing nursing education requirements.

The role requires enrollment in an accredited nursing program, with a minimum one-year commitment for internal transfers, and adherence to hospital compliance standards. BLS certification must be obtained during orientation and kept current.

Qualifications

• Communication skills to perform nursing care on a continuous basis.
• Basic computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct and indirect patient care responsibilities as assigned by charge nurse and/or preceptor.
• Documents delivery of patient care and other pertinent information in patients’ medical record and updates plan of care for assigned patients as necessary.
• Performs responsibilities related to the safe disposal of hazardous pharmaceutical waste.
• Communicates information regarding patients and unit operations to RN Preceptor, Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager, Director, and other shifts in a timely manner using proper lines of communication.
• Communicates effectively with other departments with personnel from other departments in the hospital using proper lines of communication.
