Job summary

UAB is seeking a registered nurse to provide comprehensive nursing services to women and families enrolled in the Nurse-Family Partnership program across Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia, and Conecuh Counties. The role emphasizes home visiting, education, support, and referral resources to help families achieve goals.

The successful candidate will maintain high standards of clinical practice, carry a caseload up to 25 clients, hold an Alabama RN license, CPR certification, and a valid driver's license

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current RN license by endorsement from the Alabama Board of Nursing.
• BSN and three (3) years of related experience preferred; two (2) years in maternal/child health, public health, home visiting, or mental/behavioral nursing preferred.
• Current CPR certification required. Valid driver’s license and insured automobile required. Must pass an MVR check and provide proof of insurance with limits of $100,000 per person and $300,000 per occurrence.
• Bilingual candidate who can speak Spanish is a strong preference; must be able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assess needs related to NFP domains; provide education, support and referral resources to help families attain goals.
• Participate in community coalitions to support NFP and promote client referrals; develop relationships to support referrals.
• Support policies and standards of NFP and lead agency; work as an effective team member.
• Demonstrate leadership and adhere to the nursing process and NFP home visitation model; carry a caseload of up to 25 clients.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

To provide comprehensive nursing services to women and their families eligible for the Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) Program. To maintain the highest standards of clinical nursing practice and adherence to the NFP model, policies, procedures, guidelines and standards of the NFP and of the lead agency. This position will serve the Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia, and Conecuh Counties.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop therapeutic relationships, utilize concepts of reflection and motivational interviewing with women and their families in a home visiting environment. Maintain relationships throughout the healthcare continuum.
• Access the physical, emotional, social and environmental needs of women and their families as they relate to NFP domains. Provide education, support and referral resources to assist women and their families in attaining their targeted goals. Demonstrate a willingness to meet the learning needs of patients and families. Utilize appropriate resources to meet the needs of families and achieve positive results.
• Participate in community coalition in support of NFP, promote public awareness, and develop/maintain community relationships to support client referrals. Create an environment that promotes educational and growth opportunities for nursing peers and colleagues.
• Support policies, procedures, guidelines and standards of NFP and the lead agency. Demonstrate respect and understanding for peers and other clinical disciplines, and participate as an effective member of the patient care team.
• Demonstrate leadership behaviors and commit to the development of self and others. Adhere to the nursing process and the NFP model of home visitation. Carry a caseload of up to 25 clients.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field required, or a combination of education and experience.
• Currently licensed or required to have a license by endorsement as a Registered Nurse (RN) from the Alabama Board of Nursing.
• BSN and three (3) years of related experience preferred; two (2) years of recent experience in maternal/child health, public health, home visiting, or mental/behavioral nursing preferred. Work experience may substitute for education requirements.
• Current CPR certification required. Valid driver’s license and insured automobile required. Must pass an MVR check and provide proof of insurance with limits of $100,000.00 per person and $300,000.00 per occurrence.
• Home visiting experience preferred. Basic computer skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual candidate who can speak Spanish is a strong preference. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekend shifts.
