Job summary

McLeod Health in Florence, SC is seeking a part-time nursing support professional to assist with direct patient care, hygiene, and basic safety under supervision.

The role requires completing one nursing semester and holding Basic Life Support. You will participate in hourly rounds, document patient data, and help with meals and transportation within the unit.

Qualifications

• Completed one semester of Nursing Program.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Experience in direct patient care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recognizes normal signs related to aging patients and contributes to assessment and care.
• Initiates and maintains hygiene and cleanliness of patients, environment, and unit.
• Understands storage and safety of medications and IVs.
• Conducts Hourly Rounds using Service Excellence Standards.
• Promotes comfort and safety for patients and visitors.
• Performs or assists with nutritional/hydration interventions.
• Communicates patient data to the interdisciplinary team.
• Collects and records patient-related data during direct care tasks.
• Engages in professional growth through goal setting and evidence-based tasks.
• Uses health and safety measures to protect patients and staff.
• Performs general transportation and courier duties as directed.

Job description

Responsibilities:

• Recognizes the normal signs (growth and development of aging) of the patient population indicated above and understands the requirements of assessment, treatment, and care of the specific age group(s).
• Initiates and maintains the hygiene/ cleanliness of the patients, the patient's environment, and the unit environment.
• Understands and recognizes appropriate storage and safety of medications (such as large volume IV's, alcohol, saline, medications in prepackaged kits).
• Using Service Excellence Standards conducts Hourly Rounds.
• Promotes and fosters an environment of comfort and safety for patients and visitors.
• Performs or assists with performing nutritional/ hydration interventions (feeding, providing fluids, H20 or snacks).
• Identifies and communicates appropriate patient data to members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Collects and records patient related data through the performance of direct care tasks.
• Demonstrates continued professional growth through setting goals and participating in Evidence Based tasks.
• Utilizes appropriate health and safety to protect both the patient and staff.
• Performs general transportation and courier duties as directed.
