Job summary

McLeod Health in Florence, SC is seeking a nursing support professional to assist with patient care on the unit. The role emphasizes hygiene, safe environment, early recognition of aging patient needs, and effective communication with the interdisciplinary team.

As a PRN position, the team expects you to engage in hourly rounds, assist with nutrition and hydration, transport and courier duties, and maintain safety and comfort for patients and visitors.

Qualifications

• Completed one semester of Nursing Program.
• Basic Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

• Recognizes the normal signs and required care for the patient population.
• Initiates and maintains hygiene and cleanliness of patients and unit environment.
• Ensures safe storage and handling of medications and supplies.
• Performs hourly rounds following Service Excellence Standards.
• Promotes comfort and safety for patients and visitors.
• Assists with nutritional/hydration interventions and hydration needs.
• Identifies and communicates patient data to the interdisciplinary team.
• Collects and records patient-related data during direct care tasks.
• Demonstrates professional growth through goal setting and evidence-based tasks.
• Maintains health and safety to protect patients and staff.
• Performs general transportation and courier duties as directed.

• Recognizes the normal signs (growth and development of aging) of the patient population indicated above and understands the requirements of assessment, treatment, and care of the specific age group(s).
• Initiates and maintains the hygiene/ cleanliness of the patients, the patient's environment, and the unit environment.
• Understands and recognizes appropriate storage and safety of medications (such as large volume IV's, alcohol, saline, medications in prepackaged kits).
• Using Service Excellence Standards conducts Hourly Rounds.
• Promotes and fosters an environment of comfort and safety for patients and visitors.
• Performs or assists with performing nutritional/ hydration interventions (feeding, providing fluids, H20 or snacks).
• Identifies and communicates appropriate patient data to members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Collects and records patient related data through the performance of direct care tasks.
• Demonstrates continued professional growth through setting goals and participating in Evidence Based tasks.
• Utilizes appropriate health and safety to protect both the patient and staff.
• Performs general transportation and courier duties as directed.
