Medical City Alliance, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Nurse Extern PRN Float Pool to gain hands-on RN experience while supporting patient care in a large network.

As a Nurse Extern, you will assist with ADLs, vitals, and basic nursing tasks, while learning under supervision. The role emphasizes growth toward more advanced responsibilities within your nursing program.

Qualifikationen

• Enrolled in an accredited ADN or BSN program.
• Completed Foundations, Fundamentals, or Med Surg I.
• Professional communication skills.
• Meet scheduling requirements – one 12 hour shift per week or 4 - 12 hour shifts per month.

Aufgaben

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs, checking vital signs, mobility support and hygiene.
• Performing basic nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, specimen collection.
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team.
• Helping patients and families understand care plans and recovery guidance.
• Maintaining clean and safe patient areas following infection prevention practices.
• Engaging in learning opportunities and developing a personal career plan with supervisor/preceptor.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Nurse Extern, you’ll be a valued part of the nursing team, gaining hands‑on experience as you explore the full scope of the Registered Nurse role. You’ll help deliver safe, compassionate care that improves patients’ lives while building the skills and confidence to take on more advanced responsibilities as you progress through your nursing program.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and grow in your competency
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated
• Helping patients and families understand their care plans and offering guidance for their health and recovery
• Keeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment
• Championing your growth and enhancing patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas to improve care, and partnering with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Must be enrolled in an accredited ADN or BSN program
• Completed Foundations, Fundamentals, or Med Surg I
• Professional communication skill
• Meet scheduling requirements – one 12 hour shift per week or 4 - 12 hour shifts per month
