Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a Nurse Extern to perform routine patient care duties under the supervision of a registered nurse in a hospital unit. The role may be cross-trained to operate as a Unit Secretary depending on unit needs.

Education: enrolled in an accredited ADN or BSN program with completion of at least the first semester; has 12 months to pass NCLEX after graduation. BLS certification from AHA is required. This is a PRN, hourly position.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an accredited ADN or BSN program with completion of the first semester.
• Has 12 months to pass NCLEX after graduation.
• AHA BLS Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine duties within training limits in caring for hospitalized patients under RN supervision.
• May be cross-trained to operate as a Unit Secretary depending on unit needs.
• Performs other duties related to the work described herein.
