The program requires a 12-week session with a minimum of 96 hours on the unit; the first week includes mandatory training and orientation. Start dates are 1/4/27 and 3/8/27 across multiple Inova facilities in the DC metro area.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled nursing student with minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0.
• Successful completion of one acute care (med-surg) clinical rotation, one faculty letter of recommendation.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the RN on the plan of care for patient assignments and provides basic nursing care under supervision.
• Assists with unit needs to improve patient flow and outcomes through effective communication and teamwork.
• Gathers basic monitoring data and specimens, observes and reports changes to the RN.
• Maintains a safe environment and ensures patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Documents all patient care activities according to standards.
• Attends simulation exercises and completes extern training, skill competency checklists, and labs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
