As a specialty referral hospital, Harper has established Centers of Excellence in neurosciences, bariatric surgery, vascular services, multidisciplinary cardiovascular services, hypertension, stroke prevention, and heart failure.
Position Summary
The Nurse Extern II (NE II) is part of the patient care services team, primarily responsible for technical, multi-skilled direct and indirect patient care activities.
The NE II works under the supervision of a registered nurse, who delegates tasks based on patient needs and the NE II's skills and abilities.
The NE II reports any deviations from expected patient parameters to the registered nurse. Responsibilities may vary across units depending on the patient population.
The Nurse Extern II assists with patient care duties such as activities of daily living (ADLs), vital signs, ambulation, and other tasks within the scope of a patient care tech or equivalent, under the guidance of an assigned RN.
The RN provides ongoing instruction, mentorship, and feedback to the Nurse Extern II in the clinical area.

Applicants may apply starting 6 months before graduation from an accredited nursing program and must pass all senior courses to remain eligible.
