Job summary

The Nurse Extern II role at Detroit Medical Center Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan places you within the patient care services team. You will work under the supervision of a registered nurse who delegates tasks based on patient needs and your skills.

You’ll assist with ADLs, vitals, ambulation, and other duties within the scope of a patient care tech or equivalent. You report deviations from expected patient parameters to the RN, and your assignments may vary by unit and patient population.

Qualifications

• Completion of the Fundamentals of Nursing course through an accredited school of nursing.
• Students must successfully pass all courses to remain in the program.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ADLs and vital signs under RN supervision.
• Support patient comfort and safety across units.
• Document deviations and report to the RN promptly.
