• The Nurse Extern is a student in an accredited nursing program meeting the first Med/Surg rotation requirements.
• Additional certifications listed under Licenses and Certifications must be considered for the role in line with hospital policy.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care to patients from birth through the lifecycle under supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Utilizes treatments, procedures and equipment appropriate to the pre-licensure nurse in the clinical setting per hospital policy.

Education

BCLS - Basic Life Support

Certification from a Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician program

Certification in phlebotomy

Certification in ECG

CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician program

CPT - Phlebotomy Technician Certification

BECG - Basic Ecg
