Job summary

Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs, is seeking a Deputy Nurse Executive to guide patient care services across a complex Veterans health system. This executive role shapes standards, staffing, and program development with the Associate Director for Patient Care Service.

The incumbent leads a senior team, collaborates with multiple disciplines, and ensures continuous, high-quality nursing care for Veterans nationwide.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of four to five years successful nursing practice.
  • Minimum of 2 years successful management experience in one or more areas of surgery.
  • Ability to coordinate and evaluate integrated programs; work with interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Executive administrator and consultant to improve care for Veterans at local, regional, and network levels.
  • Lead collaboration with the ELT to align nursing practice with organizational goals.
  • Promote shared decision-making, evidence-based practice, and a healthy work environment.
  • Oversee nursing 24/7, including all nursing and allied health staff, with line authority over Chief Nurses.
