Job summary

UPMC in Central PA is seeking a full-time Nurse Educator to lead clinical education initiatives across the Medical Group, supporting onboarding, competency development, continuing education, and evidence-based practice. The role involves travel to Medical Group practices throughout Central PA (up to 75%), collaboration with clinical leaders, and fostering a culture of learning and quality patient care.

Day shift, no weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be a registered nurse (RN) with active license.
• Experience in nursing education and competency development.
• Ability to lead onboarding and continuing education programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing orientation, onboarding, competency validation, and continuing education programs.
• Assess learning needs and create educational initiatives aligning with clinical priorities and regulatory requirements.
• Serve as the clinical expert, educator, mentor, and resource for nursing staff, preceptors, students, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Support staff development through coaching, mentorship, constructive feedback, and professional growth opportunities.
• Promote evidence-based practice by integrating current research into educational programs and workflows.
• Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities for quality improvement and implement education strategies to improve patient outcomes.
• Facilitate training and remediation plans to address competency gaps and ensure compliance with skills and certifications.
• Assist in developing and maintaining nursing standards, policies, and clinical practice guidelines.
• Lead and participate in performance improvement initiatives and organizational committees.
• Foster a culture of learning, collaboration, accountability, and positive communication.
• Support student clinical experiences and partnerships with academic programs.
