Job summary

VitalCore Health Strategies seeks a Nurse Educator - Registered Nurse to lead development, coordination, and delivery of training programs for the Kansas Department of Corrections. The role ensures onboarding, continuing education, and licensure maintenance for staff, promoting clinical excellence and compliance in correctional care.

The position requires a Registered Nurse with at least 3 years of healthcare training experience; correctional healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Education, Nursing, or related healthcare field with at least 3 years of healthcare training experience.
• Correctional healthcare experience strongly preferred.
• CPR Instructor certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create, implement and evaluate standardized training programs for VitalCore employees across Kansas, aligning curricula with corporate and state guidelines.
• Coordinate with Regional Managers, Health Services Administrators, and Statewide Officials to identify training needs.
• Ensure licensed clinicians receive continuing education to maintain credentials and stay current with best practices in correctional and community care.
• Travel regularly to correctional facility sites across Kansas and provide train-the-trainer support.

NURSE EDUCATOR POSITION SUMMARY

The Nurse Educator is responsible for the development, coordination, and delivery of effective training programs for the VitalCore KS DOC. This role ensures that staff receive the necessary onboarding, continuing education, and professional development to perform their duties within expected standards and practices and maintain clinical licensure. The Nurse Educator plays a vital role in fostering a culture of clinical excellence, compliance, and continuous learning within correctional healthcare settings.

NURSE EDUCATOR MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of employmentpreferred but not requiredPossesses an active CPR certificationRemains knowledgeable about specific state laws and regulations governing practice

• Satisfactory completion of initial and annual clinical competencies to demonstrate aptitude as assigned by roleMust have the ability to work independently, take initiative, and have good judgment and problem-solving skills.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Education, Nursing, or related healthcare field with at least 3 years of healthcare training experience.Correctional healthcare experience strongly preferred.Certification in leadership training or experience preferred.CPR Instructor preferredDemonstrated track record of effective team leadership with the ability to inspire, coach, and engage multi-disciplinary teams.Ability to quickly gain comprehensive knowledge of VitalCore's organizational structure, clinical operations, and training needs.Must be detail oriented and organized, and capable of managing multiple training initiatives concurrently.Must be an excellent communicator with strong instructional and presentation abilities.

NURSE EDUCATOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for creating, implementing and evaluating standardized training programs for VitalCore employees, including the use of Corporate, state-specific, and facility-based curricula.Coordinates with Regional Managers, HealthServices Administrators, and Statewide Officials to identify specific training needs and align educational initiatives with clinical and regulatory priorities for employees.Ensures that licensed clinicians receive continuing education to maintain their credentials and remain current with best practices in correctional and community care.Facilitates direct training sessions and provides train-the-trainer support for designated site-based leaders.Networks with leaders and trainers in the correctional healthcare field to understand current trends and best practices.Maintains knowledge of VitalCore policies and procedures and provides input into their development and revisions.Responsible for the development and maintenance of state-specific training resources in coordination with the Regional Medical Director and the Corporate Training Department.Stays informed on industry trends, evidence-based practices, and evolving standards in correctional healthcare education through professional networking and attendance at approved conferences.Travels regularly to correctional facility sites acrossKansasPerforms other duties as assigned.Attends training sessions and meetings as assigned.
