HCA Florida North Florida Hospital is seeking a Nurse Educator in Medical Surgical to lead evidence-based educational programs for nursing and allied staff. The role emphasizes onboarding, competency development and ongoing professional practice improvement.

The position collaborates with the Director of Clinical Professional Development to tailor educational activities, promote lifelong learning, and integrate EBP into daily practice across units.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.
• Master’s degree in nursing is preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in clinical education, CSC, academia or leadership is preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in acute care hospital is preferred.
• RN license in the state of practice or active compact license is required.
• Nationally recognized specialty certification is preferred.
• BLS is required.
• Travel up to 25% may be required.

Responsibilities

• Participates in onboarding and orientation program development and execution for nursing and other healthcare staff.
• Provides orientation/onboarding to promote employee retention.
• Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Professional Development to adjust programs based on evaluation results.
• Participates in the development, coordination and management of competency activities.
• Designs educational activities to address practice gaps for identified audiences.
• Develops activities to achieve outcomes related to knowledge, skill and practice improvements.
• Promotes evidence-based practice and conducts or participates in research and quality improvement in patient care.
• Identifies strategies to support lifelong learning and staff development.
• Utilizes the novice-to-expert continuum to identify opportunities for skill enhancement.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in nursing

Master’s degree in nursing

2+ years of experience in clinical education, CSC, academia or leadership

Currently licensed as an RN in the state of practice or active compact license

Basic Life Saving (BLS)

Ability to Travel up to 25%

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Nurse Educator enhances professional practice and the provision of quality patient care by providing evidence-based quality educational programs and activities that promote professional competency for nursing, inter-professional, and non-licensed clinical staff at the assigned facility.

In this role you will:

• Participates in the development, coordination, managing, facilitating, conducting, and evaluating of onboarding and orientation programs for nursing and other healthcare personnel.
• Provides orientation/onboarding programs to promote employee retention.
• Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Professional Development to adjust the program based on evaluation results.
• Participates in the development, coordination, and management of facilitating, conducting, and evaluating competency.
• Designs and identifies educational activities to address practice gaps for identified target audiences, including licensed and non-licensed healthcare personnel, in alignment with HCA and division clinical education request and development processes.
• Develops activities to achieve specific outcomes related to identified deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skill and practice. Plans educational content delivery that encourages learner engagement.
• Promotes and integrates the EBP in order to continuously improve practice. Conducts, encourages, facilitates, and/or participates in research, EBP, and QI in patient care settings.
• Identifies and develops strategies to facilitate a continuous process of maturation through lifelong learning.
• Utilizes novice-to-expert continuum when developing staff. Identifies and provides opportunities for skill enhancement and mastery.

What experience and education is needed for this role:

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing Required
• Master’s degree in nursing Preferred
• 2+ years of experience in clinical education, CSC, academia or leadership. Preferred
• 2+ years of experience in acute care hospital. Preferred
• Currently licensed as an RN in the state of practice or has an active compact state license in accordance with law and regulation Required
• Nationally Recognized Specialty certification Preferred
• Basic Life Saving (BLS) Required
• Ability to Travel up to 25%
