Greenleaf Behavioral Health is hiring a Nurse Educator! Schedule: Monday - Friday (full-time hours). Greenleaf Behavioral Health, Valdosta's leading Psychiatric Hospital and Treatment Center, is seeking a passionate Nurse Educator/Infection Prevention specialist to work at our adolescent and adult facility in Valdosta, GA. Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Facilitates orientation/onboarding programs to promote employee retention.
- Conducts orientation fostering a positive learning environment.
- Role models organizational and personal commitment to new employee success.
- Designs and identifies educational activities to address practice gaps for licensed and non-licensed healthcare personnel.
- Identifies learning needs of staff and/or facility.
- Demonstrates competent practice through activities like demonstration or simulation.
- Assesses practice gaps and crosswalks competencies.
- Collaborates with leadership to evaluate and refine competency activities.
- Develops and instructs didactic content and clinical skills for competencies.
- Creates education plans based on gap assessments or quality data.
- Aligns educational programs with policies and procedures.
- Implements curricula as required by regulatory agencies.
- Creates engaging, evidence-based educational content tailored to the audience.
- Maintains learner engagement with instructional skills.
- Acts as a resource for nursing staff.
- Collaborates with medical practitioners and leadership to incorporate nursing processes into patient care.
- Provides educational leadership to enhance patient care.
- Supports safe, quality, and compassionate patient care.
- Assists patients and caregivers with education needs and health management.
- Educates staff on equipment and supplies, coordinating in-service training.
- Supports educational innovation and provides just-in-time education.
- Communicates professionally with patients, visitors, and staff.
- May provide direct care as needed.
Essential Functions
- Conducts ongoing infection surveillance.
- Gathers, interprets data, and maintains records of infections.
- Presents infection reports to relevant committees.
- Inspects environment and observes personnel activities for infection hazards.
- Monitors compliance with standards and updates policies accordingly.
- Investigates exposure incidents and oversees follow-up processes.
- Notifies authorities of reportable diseases.
- Develops and provides infection prevention training and education.
- Analyzes infection data and trends for leadership.
- Trains staff on infection protocols and practices.
- Reinforces infection prevention practices.
Other Functions
- Identifies professional development needs.
- Supports staff growth and skill enhancement.
- Promotes certification in nursing specialties.
- Performs additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, Education, or related field preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent required.
- 5+ years of RN experience preferred.
- Three years of RN experience required.
- Inpatient psychiatry RN experience preferred.
- Two years of behavioral health RN experience required.
- Infection control experience preferred.
- Experience in Clinical Education/Training and Development preferred.
- Certification as an NPD Practitioner or similar preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
- Current state nursing license required.
- Infection Control certification preferred.
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required.
- First aid may be required.
Additional Regulatory Requirements
The infection preventionist is appointed by the governing body to oversee the infection prevention and control program, based on leadership recommendations.
