Job summary

Capitol Park Mental Health Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota seeks an experienced Infection Preventionist RN to lead infection control and staff education across the facility, ensuring compliance with Joint Commission, CMS and state guidelines.

The role focuses on safety, quality patient care, and outbreak prevention within a modern behavioral health setting. Requirements include RN licensure, 5+ years in nursing with infection control experience, and strong collaboration with nursing leadership.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, Education or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or commensurate experience required
• 5+ years of RN experience strongly preferred
• Three years of RN experience required
• Inpatient psychiatry experience as an RN strongly preferred
• Two years of behavioral health RN experience required
• 1+ years in infection control preferred
• Certification as an NPD Practitioner or clinical certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Facilitates orientation/onboarding to promote employee retention.
• Conducts orientation in a positive learning environment.
• Role models commitment to new employee success.
• Designs educational activities to address practice gaps for target audiences.
• Identifies learning needs of staff and facility.
• Role models competent practice through demonstration or simulation activities.
• Collaborates with Nursing Leadership to review outcomes data and refine competency management.
• Develops education plan according to gap assessment or quality data.
• Delivers curricula per regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission, CARF, CMS.
• Creates engaging, evidence-based educational content for audience.
• Promotes safe, quality patient care and provides staff with resources and just-in-time education.
• Team with medical practitioners to integrate nursing processes into care plans.
