Job summary

The Guidance Center seeks a Nurse Educator to lead clinical education, competency validation, onboarding, and regulatory readiness for nursing, medical assistants, and behavioral health staff across outpatient and inpatient units. The role supports safe medication administration, documentation compliance, and staff development.

Reports to the Director of Nursing and collaborates with Nurse Manager, Quality Management, and leadership to reduce risk, improve outcomes, and support workforce

Qualifications

• Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse in Arizona or a state within the state Nursing Compact licensure agreement as determined by the Arizona Board of Nursing.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid AZ driver's license.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain structured RN & BHS orientation program.
• Validate clinical competencies including medication administration and documentation.
• Conduct monthly clinical portion of New Employee Orientation (NEO).
• Provide quarterly competency training for RNs and BHS staff.
• Conduct weekly chart audits (PAC + CSU).
• Monitor medication administration documentation and controlled substance compliance.
• Track documentation deficiencies and provide remediation.
• Observe admissions, handoffs, and medication passes for real‑time coaching.
• Participate in quality improvement and regulatory readiness activities.

The Nurse Educator is responsible for clinical education, competency validation, onboarding, and regulatory readiness for nursing, medical assistants, and behavioral health staff across the outpatient nursing, the 16-bed inpatient psychiatric unit and the 7-bed crisis stabilization unit. This position supports safe medication administration, documentation compliance, crisis management competency, and staff development. The Nurse Educator reports to the Director of Nursing and collaborates with the Nurse Manager, Quality Management, and executive leadership to reduce risk, improve quality outcomes, and support workforce retention.

POSITION DUTIES

• Develop and maintain structured RN & BHS orientation program.
• Validate clinical competencies including medication administration and documentation.
• Conduct monthly clinical portion of New Employee Orientation (NEO).
• Provide quarterly competency training for RNs and BHS staff.
• Conduct weekly chart audits (PAC + CSU).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required:

• Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse in Arizona or a state within the state Nursing Compact licensure agreement as determined by the Arizona Board of Nursing.

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid AZ driver's license.

Preferred:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in nursing.
• Minimum 3 years of working in a psychiatric care setting.
• Strong working knowledge of EHR documentation.
• Knowledge of CMS, state, and Joint Commission standards preferred.
• Teaching or preceptor experience preferred.
