Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's South Mountain Restoration Center seeks a Registered Nurse Instructor to grow staff capabilities in a long-term care setting. You will teach nursing theory, skills, and methods, fostering a positive learning environment and aligning programs with standards.

Responsibilities include developing continuing education, presenting instruction to all nursing levels, evaluating programs, orienting new staff, coordinating NATCEP, and serving on committees.

Qualifications

• Three years of professional nursing experience; bachelor’s degree in nursing, nursing education, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university; OR one year of professional nursing experience and a master’s degree in nursing, nursing education, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
• Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania is required.
• PA residency requirement is waived for this title; ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Develop Continuing Education: assess staff needs, prepare lesson plans and resource materials for in-service education, share knowledge from seminars.
• Present Instruction: teach classes to all levels of nursing personnel on nursing practices, resident care, safety, documentation, and related topics.
• Evaluate Programs: review training effectiveness by observing staff performance and maintaining records.
• Orient New Staff: develop and provide programs to guide new personnel through center policies, procedures, layout, and expectations.
• Train Nurse Aides: coordinate, administer, and evaluate NATCEP in compliance with current standards.
• Participate in Committees: chair, serve on, and collaborate with committees to update procedures and coordinate training.
