Job summary

Canton Public Schools is seeking a compassionate RN to serve as School Nurse in a highly specialized day program designed for neurodivergent students with behavioral and medical needs. The role is full-time within a therapeutic setting rooted in ABA and trauma-informed care.

The nurse will manage health plans, deliver direct nursing care, and collaborate with families and educators while supporting students from elementary through transition age.

Qualifications

• Valid, unrestricted RN license in Connecticut.
• ADN or BSN required.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (BLS/Healthcare Provider).
• Experience in school nursing or behavioral health preferred.
• Experience managing individualized health care plans and complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in a specialized therapeutic day school setting.
• Support students with behavioral, emotional, and medical needs using ABA-informed and trauma‑informed approaches.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized health plans.
• Collaborate with families, educators, and healthcare providers; respond to health crises.

Position Summary

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – School Nurse (Therapeutic Day School Program)

Setting: A highly specialized, therapeutic school environment designed for students with behavioral, emotional, and neurodevelopmental needs.

Seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as our School Nurse in a full-time, neurodivergent-affirming special education placement rooted in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and trauma-informed care. We serve students elementary age through transition age who require behavioral and emotional support; some of whom also present with complex medical needs.

Required Educational & Licensing Credentials:

• Valid, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (BLS/Healthcare Provider level).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in school nursing and or behavioral health
• Experience managing individualized health care plans and complex medical needs

Strong communication, collaboration, and crisis-response skills
