Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Patient Care Associate to support a 3 S Telemetry unit. You will perform selected day-to-day patient care activities under the direct supervision of a nurse, maintaining an environment that promotes patient well-being and comfort.

You will interact with patients respecting their age, developmental, and cultural needs, while upholding unit competencies. Key duties include assisting with daily activities, providing compassionate support to patients and families,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Formal education or training in a medical careers program OR enrollment in nursing school OR 2+ years of PCA/NA experience is required.
• BLS certification from AHA/ARC or Canadian equivalent, valid at least 60 days beyond start date.

Responsibilities

• Performs selected day-to-day patient care activities under RN supervision.
• Delivers compassionate support and assistance to patients and families.
• Provides assistance with daily activities and personal hygiene.
• Ensures compliance with health care regulations including HIPAA and OSHA.
• Maintains a safe and clean environment by following infection-control policies.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Formal education or training in a medical careers program OR enrollment in nursing school OR two or more years’ experience in a Patient Care Associate/Nurse Assistant role

BLS certification from AHA/ARC or Canadian equivalent

Responsibilities

• Performs specific patient care interventions as delegated by the RN in effort to identify/attain treatment goals.
• Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
• Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, feeding, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.
• Ensures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.
• Performs other related job duties as requested.

Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Formal education or training in a medical careers program OR enrollment in nursing school OR two or more years’ experience in a Patient Care Associate/Nurse Assistant role
• BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent, is required before start date and valid at least 60 days beyond start date

Preferred

• State Certified Nursing Assistant
• Basic EMT Certification
• LPN License
