Job summary

Henry Ford Health System's St. John Hospital is seeking a Nurse Assistant to support the Respiratory department. Under RN supervision, you perform patient care tasks to meet safety and comfort needs and provide input to care plans.

This role follows the Team Member Standards of Excellence; requires a high school diploma or GED; CNA preferred; completion of a Nurse Assistant program or enrollment in nursing studies; various NA credentials are considered. Orientation includes BLS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• CNA preferred.
• Nurse Assistant program completion or current nursing studies; foreign-trained RN or Medical Assistant with NA experience considered.
• At least 1 year of NA/PCT/PAT experience may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN.
• Provide input to assist in planning and implementing patient care.
• Respond to emergent situations per established procedures.
• Pursue ongoing education to maintain competency.
• Follow Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence.

Schedule: 36hrs/week; Day Shift 7:00am-7:30pm; Every other weekend; Every other holiday

GENERAL SUMMARY:

• Under the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse (RN), performs specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient.
• Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care.
• Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.
• Recognizes and participates in own continuing education.
• The Nurse Assistant follows the Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence in all interactions.

Qualifications:Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• CNA preferred.
• Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles for similar programs may vary; e.g., Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT) but perform the same job role.) OR May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course. OR Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan Rn license. OR Medical Assistant program with OR without experience. OR At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

• Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.
