Job summary

Northwell Health in New York is seeking a Nurse Assistant to perform basic patient care activities according to age appropriate developmental needs. You will assist with activities of daily living, monitor patient status, respond to calls, and support safe patient transfers.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma, and nurse assistant program completion is preferred. Prior relevant experience is also preferred. This role focuses on safe, compassionate care within a team environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a Nurse Assistant Program, preferred.
• Prior relevant experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living including, but not limited to, hygiene, bathing, feeding and ambulation.
• Observes patients and reports any changes in condition to Registered Nurse. Answers patient call lights and responds appropriately.
• Transports patients to and from units, as directed by Registered Nurse and in accordance with established transfer techniques.
• Straightens up patient rooms, changes linens, and performs related tasks.
• Replenishes supply stock needed for basic patient care and orders supplies.
• Assists with admission, discharge and transfer of patients.
• Complies with safety policies and procedures in order to provide a safe environment for employees, patients and visitors.
• Contributes to cost effective patient care by monitoring use of time, equipment and supplies.
