Job summary

Northwell Health in New York is seeking a Nurse Assistant to perform essential patient care aligned with age-appropriate needs.

You will assist with activities of daily living, observe patients, report changes to the RN, transport patients, and help with admissions, discharges and transfers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of a Nurse Assistant Program, preferred.
• Prior relevant experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living including, but not limited to, hygiene, bathing, feeding and ambulation.
• Observes patients and reports any changes in condition to Registered Nurse. Answers patient call lights and responds appropriately.
• Transports patients to and from units, as directed by Registered Nurse and in accordance with established transfer techniques.
• Straightens up patient rooms, changes linens, and performs related tasks.
• Replenishes supply stock needed for basic patient care and orders supplies.
• Assists with admission, discharge and transfer of patients.
• Complies with safety policies and procedures in order to provide a safe environment for employees, patients and visitors.
• Contributes to cost effective patient care by monitoring use of time, equipment and supplies.
