Job summary

Corewell Health's Troy Hospital Pre-Post Recovery unit is seeking an Observer to support patient safety and care during evening shifts. You will assist with the plan of care, transport patients, and document services in the electronic medical record.

This part-time role emphasizes teamwork, critical thinking, and reliable decision-making. Prior hospital or nursing home experience is preferred, and BLS is required within 30 days of hire; CNA certification is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide care per plan under RN direction.
• Safely transport patients via wheelchair or stretcher.

• Perform receptionist and clerical duties to support unit operations.
• Document care in the electronic medical record.

About The Unit

The Pre-op and PACU at Troy Beaumont are a fast-paced critical care unit that specialize in the preparation and recovery of patients who are undergoing a surgical procedure. Our department is comprised of 3 pre-op areas and 3 PACU areas, specializing in both outpatient and inpatient surgeries. Staff who join our units should be teamwork oriented and possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and decision-making skills.

Scope of work

Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.

Orientation

This position requires a full week of corporate orientation. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. You will be required to attend the entire week consecutively.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire
• Current CNA certification preferred
