Job summary

Corewell Health's Pre Post Recovery unit at Troy Hospital is seeking an Observer to support patient care in the evening shift. You will assist with safety monitoring, transport, and clerical tasks under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

This part-time role requires a high school diploma, BLS within 30 days, and a teamwork-oriented approach. Evening hours are 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with flexible weekend scheduling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred (if stated).
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire.
• Current CNA certification preferred (if stated).

Responsibilities

• Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.
• Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize safety.
• Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
• Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.

About The Unit

The Pre-op and PACU at Troy Beaumont are a fast-paced critical care unit that specialize in the preparation and recovery of patients who are undergoing a surgical procedure. Our department is comprised of 3 pre-op areas and 3 PACU areas, specializing in both outpatient and inpatient surgeries. Staff who join our units should be teamwork oriented and possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and decision-making skills.

Scope of work

Orientation

This position requires a full week of corporate orientation. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. You will be required to attend the entire week consecutively.
