Job summary

Corewell Health in Troy is seeking a Part-time Nursing Observer/CNA to support the Med Surg Care Unit Oncology 5W. You will work nights (7 p.m.

– 7:30 a.m.), 24 hours per week, including every third weekend, with responsibilities including patient observation and care per RN direction. Orientation is a full week; prior hospital or nursing home experience and BLS within 30 days are preferred, and a CNA certification is advantageous.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.
• Current CNA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides care to patients per plan of care, under RN direction.
• Assists with safe patient transport via wheelchair or stretcher and documents services.
• Acts as Observer for patients requiring constant observation, in person or via remote video monitoring.
• Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to support unit operations.
• Documents care provided in the electronic medical record.

Scope of work

• Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.


• Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.


• Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety.


• Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.


• Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.

Orientation

This position requires a full week of corporate orientation. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. You will be required to attend the entire week consecutively.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent


• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
