Job summary

Corewell Health's Troy Hospital is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support the Med Surg Care Unit 5S in Troy, MI. The role involves patient care under a Registered Nurse, safe transport, and observation duties, with a structured week of orientation.

The position requires a High School diploma, BLS within 30 days, and CNA certification is preferred. The shift is 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., 36 hours per week, with every third weekend. On-site parking and comprehensive benefits are provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients per the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under RN supervision.
• Safely transport patients via wheelchair or stretcher and document services.
• Act as observer for patients needing constant observation, in person or via video monitoring.
• Perform receptionist and clerical duties to support nursing unit operations.
• Document care provided in the electronic medical record.

About the unit 5 south medical unit consists of 33 head walls all our rooms are shared with one negative pressure equipped room and two single room to accommodate patient that need private room. Our average census is between 29-32 patients, we monitor patients that need frequent safety checks through Video monitoring system. We have capability of accepting patients needing telemetry. We believe in patient and family centered care; we coordinate patient care with multi-disciplinary team members. We are certified and skilled to perform peritoneal dialysis. Scope of Work

• Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.
• Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety.
• Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
• Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.

Orientation

This position requires a full week of corporate orientation. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. You will be required to attend the entire week consecutively.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire
• Current CNA certification preferred
