Job summary

Powers Health is hiring a Nurse Assistant for IMCU to work nights at Community Hospital in Munster, IN. This part-time position (0.8 FTE) includes 64 hours per pay period and night coverage from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., every other weekend and holiday.

The IMCU is a 32-bed, 24-hour unit with a variety of cardiovascular and post-operative patients. The ideal candidate will assist with ADLs, transfers, nutrition needs and safety, and must have a nursing assistant certification and CPR

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year direct patient care experience or nursing program clinicals or nursing assistant certification required.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care activities for personal needs, comfort, and safety.
• Assists with ADLs, ambulation, mobility, positioning, turning and lifting.
• Assists with transfers and discharges.
• Assists with nutritional needs, feeding, hydration, and special diets.

Nurse Assistant Job, 8 hour Night Shifts (11p-7:30a), IMCU

Powers Health is hiring a Nurse Assistant for IMCU to work nights at Community Hospital in Munster, IN.

The Intermediate Care is a 32-bed multidisciplinary 24-hour unit located on the third floor of the Parkview Tower. Patients over the age of twelve may be admitted to this unit, but the average age is 67. The highest volume of medical diagnosis, but surgical patients are admitted. The most frequent diagnosis include: angina, R/O or Post MI, Cardiac dysrhythmia, CAD, COPD, CHF, pre-post PTCA, post stent, general surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring/observation post-op, diabetes, CVA and peripheral vascular diseases.

Nurse Assistant Roles and Responsibilities:

• Performs various designated patient care activities necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort and safety of the patient in accordance with Hospital Policy and Nursing Service Standards.
• Assists patients with ADLs, ambulation, mobility, positioning, turning and lifting while maintaining all Safety Patient Care Practices.
• Assists patients with transfers and discharges.
• Assists patients with nutritional needs ie passing and collecting food trays, feeding patients, providing fresh water every shift, assist with maintenance of special diets and between meal nourishment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
• One year direct patient care experience with successful completion of competency exam, completion of one semester of clinicals in nursing program or completion of nursing assistant certification required.
• CPR certification required.
• Completes annual skill validations as well as safety and infection control procedures.
