Job summary

Corewell Health's Grosse Pointe Hospital is seeking a Nurse Assistant to provide patient care on a 13-bed ICU with a 4-bed SICU. You will assist RNs, transport patients, and perform clerical duties while documenting in the EMR.

The role requires a CNA certification (preferred), BLS, and strong communication skills. Shift is night, with 36 weekly hours and variable days, at the Grosse Pointe campus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
• American Heart Association or Red Cross BLS certification required.
• Current CNA certification preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
• Ability to work with a wide variety of individuals.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge is preferred.
• Ability to move or lift patients and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under RN direction.
• Safely transport patients via wheelchair or stretcher and document services.
• Serve as an Observer for patients requiring constant observation, in person or via remote monitoring.
• Perform general receptionist and clerical duties to support unit efficiency.
• Document care provided in the electronic medical record.

About this Unit

We are a 13-bed ICU with the addition of a 4-bed surgical SICU at a Level 3 Trauma Hospital. We are a unit dedicated to innovation and process improvement which lead to the most beneficial patient outcomes. Furthermore, the CCU strives for excellence in workplace satisfaction. All staff members are involved within shared governance programs and are empowered to make several decisions that impact on the unit and patient care. These decisions include but are not limited to (scheduling, staffing, workflow, infection prevention, alterations in patient care models, teaching educational classes, and participating in multidisciplinary team peer reviews). The CCU patient population includes a variety of high acuity patients that require intensive monitoring and critical thinking.

Scope of work

Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications
