Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Per Diem Nursing Assistant to support the LAN 9 E Medical Surgical unit. Under nurse supervision, you will assist with patient care activities and help maintain a clean, safe environment for patients.

You will interact with patients with attention to their developmental, age-specific, and cultural needs. The role emphasizes compassionate support, daily living activities, and adherence to HIPAA/OSHA policies.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Specialized education options include acute care nursing assistant course, long term care nursing assistant course, EMT program, medical assistant program, or clinical rotation during an accredited nursing program.
• Direct patient care experience preferred; if education options are not met, at least six months of nursing assistant experience is required.
• BLS certification as Healthcare Provider or MTN equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Performs specific patient care interventions as delegated by the RN in effort to identify/attain treatment goals.
• Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
• Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, feeding, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.
• Ensures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.
• Performs other related job duties as requested.

Required:

• Specialized education requirements, for those not meeting minimum six-month nursing assistance experience requirement, include:
• acute care nursing assistant course preferred for acute care positions or
• long term care nursing assistant course or
• completion of an emergency medical technician program or
• completion of medical assistant program or
• completion of a clinical rotation while participating an accredited nursing program.
• Direct patient care experience preferred. Prior nursing assistant experience of at least six months is required when the specialized education requirements identified above has not been met
• BLS certification as Healthcare Provider or equivalent through the Military Training Network (MTN).
