Responsibilities

  • Routinely observes, discusses, and demonstrates understanding of the steps in the nursing process and how the patient plan of care is developed, implemented, and revised under direct supervision of an RN.
  • Assessment: Collects patient data (e.g., vital signs) and reports significant changes in patient condition to the supervising RN.
  • Completes accurate documentation, verified by the supervising RN.
  • Evaluation: Reports patient responses to treatments and collaborates with the RN regarding changes requiring modification of nursing interventions to meet patient needs.
  • May assist an RN with the following (1:1 supervision required): Arterial line blood draws, Blood transfusion, IV therapy, Oral medication administration, Initiating tube feedings.

This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
