Job Description:The Nurse Apprentice works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) in the clinical setting and participates appropriately in the patient care delivery process. The Nurse Apprentice is expected to work at least 12 hours per week during their last semester, as allowed under the State of Utah guidelines for a Nurse Apprentice.*Must be an RN nursing student who is currently in, or nearing, the final semester of an RN program.*Posting Info:Shift Available: Days, Nights, Weekends, and HolidaysPosting Info:While serving in the NA role, the candidate will have the opportunity to work across all departments in the hospital.Essential FunctionsRoutinely observes, discusses, and demonstrates understanding of the steps in the nursing process and how the patient plan of care is developed, implemented, and revised to meet the needs of the patient (under direct supervision of an RN).Assessment: Collects patient data (e.g., vital signs) and reports significant changes in patient condition to the supervising RN. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
