Position Title: Nurse Apprentice - Earn While You Learn! (Marymount Students only)

Job Description:

The Nurse Apprentice (NA) works under the direct supervision of the RN and is an active member of the healthcare team. Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the NA performs routine duties involving patient care, including activities of daily living, observing patient status changes, maintaining a clean and safe environment, transporting patients, and other related duties. The NA must be empathetic, possess good communication and nursing skills, and be able to communicate effectively in written, auditory, or visual formats. The primary mode of communication is spoken, with additional skills in writing, telephone, and manual dexterity required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completed Fundamentals of Nurse Coursework
• Completed clinical rotation
• Current Marymount University Nursing Student
• BLS Certification

Physical Requirements:

Must possess physical capabilities to perform essential job functions, including exerting significant force, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, reaching, standing, walking, pushing/pulling, lifting, and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity and the ability to perform Basic Life Support are also required.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a well-lit, ventilated clinical setting, subject to interruptions, long hours, and shift changes. May require overtime or on-call hours. Routine exposure to infectious diseases, blood-borne pathogens, chemicals, and other hazards. Appropriate PPE is provided. The role involves interaction with patients, families, co-workers, and visitors under various emotional and physical conditions.
