THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections is seeking committed and compassionate Nurse Aides to join SCI Laurel Highlands. This role involves supporting individuals in need, contributing to their well-being and rehabilitation. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will provide care in Skilled Care, Personal Care, Outpatient, and General Population settings. Daily duties include:

  • Performing basic nursing skills and procedures to maintain inmate health and quality care.
  • Completing required documentation.
  • Collecting specimens such as urine, feces, and sputum.
  • Assisting inmates with daily living activities and hygiene needs.
  • Participating in Life Skills programming, following nursing care plans, and documenting care provided.
  • Responding to emergencies with procedures like CPR and airway management, and participating in drills.

Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment
  • Work shifts cover 24/7 operations: 1st shift (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM), 2nd shift (2:00 PM - 10:30 PM), 3rd shift (10:00 PM - 6:30 AM). Shift hours are to be determined.
  • No telework option.
  • Salary may be non-negotiable in some cases.
  • Eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
Qualifications
  • Active Nurse Aide registration in Pennsylvania or six months of paid experience caring for geriatric or physically ill patients.
  • Active registration as a Nurse Aide in Pennsylvania is required.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
