Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks a skilled welder with experience in welding and cutting technologies to contribute to joining technology development and procedure qualifications. You will work from engineering specifications, drawings, and procedures, operating a range of welding methods and basic fabrication equipment.

Essential duties include following instructions, maintaining records, and collaborating with engineers and technicians to solve problems. Applicants must be U.S.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years of welding-related experience.
  • An associate degree or Journeyman Papers in a related field qualifies.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.
  • Experience with multiple welding processes (GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, SAW, flux core).

Responsibilities

  • Operate basic material processing equipment (band saw, cut-off wheel, die grinder, drill press).
  • Obtain and maintain required qualifications (crane operator, electrical worker/lockout tagout, environmental/waste handling).
  • Work from engineering specifications, drawings, sketches, verbal instructions, welding procedures, and manuals.
  • Prepare and maintain neat and accurate records.
  • Work independently and use available resources to solve issues.
  • Collaborate with technicians and engineers.
