Job summary

General Matter is seeking a Nuclear Safety Programs Engineer to own the programs that keep a nuclear facility reliable, covering configuration management, maintenance, training and qualification, procedures, quality assurance, audits, corrective action, and records.

You will collaborate across engineering, operations, and licensing to build these programs from the ground up, ensuring safety controls are available and the safety basis remains current, with DOE/NRC parallels guiding the approach.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, a physical science, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of management measure disciplines (e.g., configuration, maintenance, QA) in regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with 10 CFR Part 70 and the Integrated Safety Analysis (ISA).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the facility's management measures programs under 10 CFR Part 70.
  • Establish and maintain a configuration management program to preserve design and safety bases.
  • Define and oversee maintenance, testing, calibration, and surveillance for critical equipment.
  • Develop procedures, training, and qualification requirements.
  • Establish and administer the quality assurance program (ASME NQA-1) and supporting processes.
  • Conduct audits, assessments, and reviews to verify program effectiveness.
  • Lead corrective action and incident investigation processes and track actions.
  • Ensure safety controls remain available and ISA/safety basis current.
  • Coordinate across teams to integrate measures into daily work.
