Job summary

Valar Atomics seeks a QA Laboratory Technician to join the Regulations & Safety team at our nuclear fuel facility in Utah. You will perform analytical, inspection, and testing activities on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished fuel components to ensure compliance with NQA-1, ISO 17025, and safety standards.

This role demands meticulous documentation and data integrity in a highly controlled environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering Technology, or a related scientific field.
  • 1–3+ years of laboratory experience in a regulated or high-precision manufacturing environment; experience in nuclear, aerospace, pharmaceutical, or medical device sectors is a plus.
  • Familiarity with analytical techniques, measurement tools, and laboratory best practices.
  • Strong documentation, data integrity, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed technical procedures and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Testing & Inspection: Perform chemical, physical, and material-property testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished nuclear fuel components using approved procedures.
  • Sample Handling & Preparation: Receive, label, track, and prepare samples according to quality protocols with traceability and safety compliance.
  • Data Recording & Documentation: Accurately record results in lab information systems and maintain complete data packages.
  • Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Operate laboratory instrumentation; perform routine checks, calibrations, and maintenance.
  • Quality & Regulatory Compliance: Follow procedures aligned with nuclear quality standards (NQA-1, ISO 17025); assist audits and continuous improvement.
  • Safety & Radiation Protection: Adhere to safety protocols including radiation, criticality safety, and hazardous materials handling.
