Job summary

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Nuclear Engineering 2 professional in Newport News, VA to support overhaul, maintenance, and modernization of naval propulsion systems. The role requires hands-on shipboard involvement and collaboration with engineering, production, and waterfront teams.

The ideal candidate has an ABET-accredited engineering degree, proficient PC skills, SAP experience, and U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a confidential clearance.

Qualifications

• 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years with Masters; or high school diploma with 6 years relevant experience.
• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• Proficient in PCs and common desktop software and test equipment (digital meters, oscilloscopes, gauges).
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a confidential security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop processes, tooling, and material requirements for nuclear propulsion work.
• Prepare technical work instructions, procedures, and troubleshooting documentation.
• Provide shipboard and shop-floor support to resolve technical and production issues.
• Identify and implement effective solutions to complex engineering challenges.
• Manage engineering projects and technical assignments from planning through completion.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet program objectives and comply with nuclear program requirements.
