Job summary

Southern Nuclear’s Plant Hatch is seeking a Systems Operator in Training to join a team dedicated to safe, reliable nuclear energy. The program begins with a 12‑month training track to qualify as a Systems Operator, with opportunities to participate in both classroom and on-the-job training and to pursue a Reactor Operator license.

Qualifications

• Experience operating power plant equipment.
• Navy nuclear experience is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills; able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to pursue Reactor Operator license.

Responsibilities

• Successful completion of SOIT training.
• Participates in classroom training to learn responsibilities of Systems Operator.
• Participates in On-the-Job Training activities in the plant.
• Acquires knowledge of plant systems and equipment.
• Operates and maintains plant systems and equipment.
• Records systems/equipment operating data.
• Monitors/evaluates systems/equipment operation.
• Performs Surveillance Testing.
• Pursues Reactor Operator license.
• Performs heavy manual duties inside/outside environment.
• Serves as a member of the plant Fire Brigade.
• Perform Emergency Response duties.
