Job summary

STP Nuclear Operating Company offers an Electrical Maintenance Internship designed for students to gain hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems at the South Texas Project site. The program exposes interns to equipment calibration, inspection, and system optimization to boost plant reliability.

Interns assist the electrical maintenance team with inspections, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, calibration, and documentation while learning to develop maintenance

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year institution and pursuing a degree in Electrical Maintenance or a related field.
• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
• Ability to obtain unescorted access to South Texas Project Electric Generating Station.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Basic understanding of electrical maintenance practices, troubleshooting techniques, and safety protocols.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety in all tasks.
• Must be in good academic standing with your school.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the inspection, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems, including transformers, circuit breakers, and power distribution equipment.
• Supporting troubleshooting efforts and the repair of electrical components to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability.
• Assisting with preventive maintenance tasks and the development of maintenance schedules.
• Supporting the calibration and testing of electrical equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Reviewing electrical schematics and technical documentation to aid in troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Documenting maintenance activities and supporting the maintenance management system.
