Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Radiology (Per Diem)

Job Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist operates nuclear detection and imaging equipment, prepares radiopharmaceuticals, and follows professional and departmental protocols to produce diagnostic images. Reports to: Clinical Nuclear Medical Supervisor.

Responsibilities
  • Operate nuclear detection and imaging equipment; prepare radiopharmaceuticals for nuclear radiologic studies; perform procedures according to protocols and NRC regulations.
  • Prepare and position patients; inject isotopes; monitor patients during scans.
  • Order, prepare, administer, and dispose of radiopharmaceuticals following established protocols; adhere to radiation safety standards.
  • Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and NRC guidelines for radiation and patient safety; maintain accurate records.
  • Review physician's orders and patient information to ensure correct procedures and preparations.
  • Assess exam appropriateness; review images for quality and abnormalities; perform IV skills proficiently.
  • Conduct quality control tests on equipment and radiopharmaceuticals; respond to emergencies involving radioactive materials.
  • Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and equipment; perform quality assurance and transport patients as needed.
Qualifications
  • Certified Nuclear Medical Tech credentialed from NMTCB or ARRT prior to hire; ARRT certification required.
  • CT Advanced certification by ARRT required after 12 months of employment unless otherwise documented.

Education: Associates Degree in Allied Health related to Nuclear Medicine or completion of a one-year Nuclear Medicine Technology course.
