Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare West is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist PRN to provide imaging services under the direction of Imaging Services leadership. The role emphasizes patient safety, accurate imaging, and exception handling in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate Degree and ARRT certification in radiography or CNMT, with CPR/BLS obtained within 30 days. No travel required; benefits and professional growth opportunities available.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent.
  • ARRT Radiography and/or Nuclear Medicine certification (R/RT, CNMT) preferred.
  • BLS/CPR certification required within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for Nuclear Medicine exams and explains procedures.
  • Ensures safe, high-quality care following policies and standards.
  • Performs Nuclear Medicine imaging accurately and timely.
  • Handles high-volume, high-stress situations with professionalism.
  • Mentors junior staff and supports ongoing education.

Job Summary And Qualifications

(Nuclear Medicine Technologist) – Under the general direction of the Director and Manager of Imaging Services and the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for the provision of Nuclear Medicine Imaging to patients in accordance with physicians' orders. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist provides for patient safety and high quality testing. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are required to interact with patient, physicians, visitors, and other staff members. Rapidly changing work demands require an ability to handle high stress environments.

What you will do in this role:

  • Prepares patients for Nuclear Medicine exams, explains procedure and ensures technical quality.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, adhering to policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Demonstrates ability to accurately provide quality Nuclear Medicine examinations in a timely manner.
  • Is able to handle high volume, high stress situations.
  • Has exceptional critical thinking skills and problem solving abilities.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education.
  • Upholds the highest standards of customer service at all times ("customer" includes patients, family members, co-workers, referring physicians, etc.).
  • Actively participates in Performance Improvement (P.I.) activities established by the Imaging Department.
  • Possesses knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to work accurately within the Imaging Department.
  • Serves as a mentor and resource to less experienced staff/students.
  • Completes other tasks and activities as assigned.
  • Adheres to the Customer Service Principles of West Houston Medical Center

What qualifications you will need:

  • (RT) Radiologic Technologist/Radiographer
  • Associate Degree
  • (ARRT-R) (ARRT-N) Radiography, or (CNMT) Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support, or CPR, or CPR for Healthcare Providers, or Heart Saver CPR must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
