Job summary

Doctors Hospital of Augusta is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for PRN shifts. The role performs diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceutical procedures, calibrates equipment, and uses scanners to detect radiation and generate counts under physician guidance.

Under radiation safety protocols, you will administer radiopharmaceuticals and care for diverse patient ages from birth to geriatric, ensuring quality imaging and patient comfort in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

  • BLS certification required within 30 days of employment start date.
  • CNMT, NMT, ARRT-R or ARRT-N certification required.
  • 1-3 years of experience preferred.
  • Graduate of an AMA-accredited program with certificate/degree in Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, measure, and administer radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic and therapeutic studies using equipment per procedures.
  • Calibrate imaging equipment.
  • Perform diagnostic studies on patients with scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation and produce counts.
  • Administer therapeutic dose of radiopharmaceuticals under physician direction.
  • Follow radiation safety techniques in disposal of radioactive materials.
  • Provide care for patients across all ages from birth to geriatric.

Job Summary And Qualifications

Prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic and therapeutic studies, utilizing variety of equipment and following prescribed procedures. Calibrates equipment. Performs diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by physician, using scanners, or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce counters, scalers, and scintillation detectors. Administers therapeutic dose of radiopharmaceuticals under the direction of a physician. Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials. The Nuclear Med Tech in this department provides care for birth to pediatric, pediatric/child patients between 1 to 11 years of age; adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older.

What qualifications you will need
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (CNMT) Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, or (NMT) Nuclear Medicine Technologist, or (ARRT-R) Radiography, or (ARRT-N) Nuclear Medicine Technology
  • 1-3 years of experience, preferred
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited AMA program with a certificate or degree in Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine Technology
