Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology from a CAAHEP approved school.
  • One year of experience preferred with ARRT(N) or NMTCB certification.

Job Description

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs healthcare services utilizing radiopharmaceuticals to assist in diagnosing and treating disease. They perform Nuclear Medicine procedures, produce images for interpretation by Radiologists, and ensure equipment quality control.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares room, equipment, radiopharmaceuticals, and materials for procedures.
  • Maintains a clean and stocked procedure room daily.
  • Calibrates equipment daily and reports any deficiencies.
  • Prepares patients, explains procedures, assists during procedures, and positions patients correctly.
  • Sends images to PACS and verifies their availability for interpretation.
  • Performs clerical duties, manages files, and handles transportation as needed.
  • Practices patient care according to ARMC policy.
  • Assists Radiologists during procedures and takes films as requested.
  • Schedules exams considering age-related factors for patients from pediatrics to geriatrics.
  • Accepts additional work during low patient activity and assists colleagues.
  • Implements radiation safety procedures at all times.
  • Maintains measurements as per Universal Protocol policy.
  • Ensures accurate patient charges and timely documentation.
  • Administers radiopharmaceuticals, adjusting doses based on patient age and weight.
  • Documents verbal and telephone orders per policy (for ARRT licensed staff).
  • Rotates to other imaging departments as needed and participates in holiday and on-call rotations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
