Inova Fairfax Medical Center in Falls Church, VA, is seeking a dedicated Nuclear Medicine Technologist for a full‑time day shift. The role involves explaining procedures to patients, assisting physicians with examinations, and ensuring strict adherence to radiation safety protocols and ALARA principles.

Minimum qualifications include an associate degree in Nuclear Medicine, Virginia licensure within 3 months, and CNMT or ARRT‑N within one year of hire.

Formación

• Associate degree in Nuclear Medicine from an accredited program.
• Registered Virginia Nuclear Medicine license within 3 months.
• CNMT or ARRT-N certification within one year of hire.
• NMTCB or ARRT(N) certification within one year of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon start.

Responsabilidades

• Explain procedures to patients and families and answer questions to ease anxiety and ensure cooperation.
• Assist the physician in performing examinations using standard department protocols, isolation precautions, and sterile techniques; inject radiopharmaceuticals per ACR guidelines.
• Recognize clinical or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take action to resolve them for the best outcome.
• Identify patients and files using EMR and PACS with high accuracy.
• Apply ALARA radiation protection procedures and maintain exposure within limits.

Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Responsibilities:

• Explains procedures to patients and families and answers any questions to ease anxiety and ensure patient cooperation.
• Assists the physician in performing a variety of examinations by using standard department protocols, isolation precautions, and/or sterile techniques. Demonstrates proper technique for injection of radiopharmaceuticals under the American College of Radiology guidelines.
• Demonstrates the ability to recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams while taking appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcome.
• Correctly identifies patients and their files by utilizing electronic medical records and picture archiving/communication systems while ensuring a high degree of accuracy.
• Demonstrates the effective use of radiation protection procedures with shielding, collimation devices, and protective shielding per supervisor observation. Maintains exposure reading within the ALARA limits.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Associate Degree Nuclear Medicine Graduate of an accredited school/program of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
• Licensure: Registered State Inspector - Virginia Within 3 Months Must be licensed as required by the state of employment if employed at an Inova Health System free-standing Imaging Center not affiliated with one of Inova's hospitals. Must possess a state Nuclear Medicine Tech license if it is required by the state of employment and if employed at an Inova free-standing Imaging Center not affiliated with one of Inova's Hospitals.
• Certification: CNMT or ARRT-N obtained within one year of hire date. Nuclear Medical Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or ARRT (N) certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist within one year of hire date; Basic Life Support (BLS) Upon Start
• Experience: Experience in a hospital/healthcare environment as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist/Student.
