Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Morris Cancer Center, New Brunswick, NJ

Job Overview:

Assists the nuclear physician with the implementation of special imaging procedures.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
  • Must possess a current NJ State license.
  • ARRT(R), ARRT(CT) certification and/or NMTCB Fusion Certification
  • BLS certification required
Preferred:
  • Two years hospital experience as a staff technologist preferred.
Scheduling Requirements:
  • This is a full-time, 5x 8-hour shifts, days position 40 hours/week. Every 5th or 6th weekend required. On call is required.
Essential Functions:
  • Adheres to standards established by the hospital, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Accepts special assignments from supervisor and completes them on time.
  • Assists the nuclear physician with the implementation of special imaging procedures.
  • Ensures all tests are performed properly with valid and accurate results before patient release.
  • Calibrates the dose calibrator and performs QC procedures on gamma cameras per departmental protocols, notifying lead tech of malfunctions promptly.
  • Explains procedures clearly to patients, including wait times, and performs procedures to ensure patient comfort and optimal image quality.
  • Identifies patients (both inpatient and outpatient) according to hospital SOP before starting procedures.
  • Performs all hot lab functions such as receiving, using, and discarding radiopharmaceuticals following vendor, departmental, and regulatory guidelines.
