Job summary

This position is with the Defense Health Agency at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, NC. The Civilian Nuclear Medicine Technologist will prepare radiopharmaceuticals, perform imaging procedures, and assist physicians with study optimization.

Responsibilities include acquiring dynamic and static planar and tomographic images (bone, brain, heart, thyroid, liver, kidneys, parathyroid), preparing patients, administering therapeutic radionuclides as directed, and performing calibration checks

Qualifications

  • Public Law 97-35 credentialing standards for radiologic procedures
  • 1 year of specialized experience performing nuclear medicine studies or examinations and providing technical support to physicians or other nuclear medicine personnel
  • Education options include two graduate years or a master's degree in a directly related field
  • Combination of education and experience may be used to qualify with at least 100% total percentage

Responsibilities

  • Prepare in-house radiopharmaceuticals for daily use by compounding chemical kits with radioactive material
  • Initiate/perform acquisition, processing dynamic and static planar and tomographic imaging procedures (bone, brain, heart, thyroid, etc.)
  • Perform imaging procedures and optimize data for physician interpretation
  • Prepare patients for procedures and assess needs throughout
  • Prepare and administer radionuclides under physician direction after dose verification
  • Perform calibration checks on pharmacy equipment daily/quarterly/annually
