Job summary

Advocate Health's Nuclear Medicine department in Winston‑Salem, NC is seeking a part-time Nuclear Medicine Technologist on a per diem schedule. You will administer diagnostic and therapeutic doses under supervision, verify orders, and collaborate with Radiologists to ensure accurate, high-quality imaging.

The role requires NMTCB or ARRT (N) certification, Nuclear Medicine tech experience, and BLS certification. On-call coverage at night and on weekends is part of the schedule.

Qualifications

  • Registered with NMTCB or ARRT (N) required.
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology and PET experience required.
  • Must meet all competency requirements of a Nuclear Medicine Tech I.
  • Current BLS Provider Certification from AHA or Red Cross required.
  • Graduate of an ARRT/NMTCB-recognized Nuclear Medicine Technology program.

Responsibilities

  • Administers diagnostic and therapeutic doses under supervision.
  • Examines requests and verifies orders on each patient.
  • Refer and questions orders to Radiologist before performing exam.
  • Contact ordering physician when discrepancies exist.
  • Correlates test results and lab data with the exam.
  • Obtain medications, radiopharmaceuticals for administration by licensed practitioner.
  • Operate dose calibrators, lab equipment and survey meters.
  • Verify correct patient identity on requisitions.
  • Record patient data, dose information, and exam details.
  • Evaluate image quality and consult Radiologist when needed.
  • Recognize abnormal anatomy and adjust imaging as instructed.

Pay Range $41.10 - $61.65
Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina

What You'll Do:
  • Administers diagnostic and therapeutic doses under the supervision of an Authorized User.
  • Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient.
  • Refers and questions orders to the Radiologist before performing exam.
  • Contacts ordering physician when there are discrepancies.
  • Correlates other test results and laboratory data with exam being performed.
  • Obtains medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist, or registered nurse.
  • Operates dose calibrators, computers, lab equipment and survey meters.
  • Verifies the correct patient by using appropriate patient identifiers and validates proof of identity.
  • Records medical history on requisitions.
  • Records dose information, patient data, dates, views and other pertinent information on finished exams.
  • Evaluates technical quality of images and consults with a Radiologist if needed.
  • Recognizes abnormal anatomy and processes any additional, reconstructed images and/or measurements as instructed.
What You'll Need:
  • Registered with NMTCB or ARRT (N) required.
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology and PET experience required.
  • Must meet all competency requirements of a Nuclear Medicine Tech I.
  • Current BLS Provider Certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
  • Graduate of an institution accredited by an agency that ARRT or NMTCB recognizes in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and demonstrates the skills and competency appropriate to the ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patient population served.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies up to 600 pounds with assistance.
  • May be required to stretch, bend, twist, squat and kneel in performing Diagnostic procedures.
  • Vision and hearing for distances of at least 20 feet is necessary.
  • Able to carry weights of up to 25 pounds while moving film jackets, supplies or equipment to work areas.
  • Significant walking will be required as approximately 50% of work time will be standing.
  • 50% of work time will be operating computers, monitors, survey meters and other equipment requiring manual dexterity and use of the hands.
  • Precision manual dexterity required for venipuncture and radiopharmaceutical administration.
