Advocate Health is seeking a part-time Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. The role involves preparing radiopharmaceuticals, performing venipuncture, operating imaging systems, and maintaining dose records in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Graduate of an accredited 4-year Bachelor Degree or a 2-year Nuclear Medicine program. This position will need to recognize the needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups treated, i.e., understand child growth and look for signs of normal aging; prior experience with various age groups is preferred.
Knowledge of nature of radioactivity, rules and regulations dictating the use and handling thereof. Ability to perform with direct supervision. Ability to understand team concept. Ability to operate radiation detection equipment with direct supervision. Ability to use computers and a variety of computer programs to perform procedures, record disposition of radiopharmaceuticals, schedule patients, and capture charges. Ability to perform direct IV venopuncture. IEMA Licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
Minimum age to work with radioactive materials is 18 years. Ability to be flexible and be able to rotate assignments to work Saturdays, evenings as needed as well as be on call for emergency procedures during Sunday, holidays, and all PM hours the department is not open. Must be adaptable to changing assignment during the day. Ability to move imaging equipment for portable studies. Equipment is very heavy. Ability to communicate with patients and respond in a timely manner. Perform responsibilities in a fast-paced environment with established time constraints. If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
