Qualifications

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures, including image acquisition and the use of radionuclides for diagnosis and therapy of diseases.

Responsibilities
  • Performs radionuclide procedures on patients, including organ imaging, function studies, and assisting physicians with therapeutic radioisotope use under safety guidelines.
  • Selects and operates Nuclear Medicine equipment as directed.
  • Provides radiation protection for self and patients per safety standards.
  • Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals to patients.
  • Prepares radioactive tracer compounds for patient use.
  • Calibrates equipment and assays radionuclides.
  • Receives and inspects radiopharmaceutical packages according to regulations.
  • Maintains records of radioisotope receipt, use, storage, and disposal in compliance with regulations.
  • Ensures cleanliness and contamination-free conditions of rooms and equipment.
  • Follows all NRC, State DEP, JCAHO guidelines.
  • Evaluates images using PACS to ensure diagnostic quality.
  • Rotates work assignments in Nuclear Cardiology and PET/CT as needed.
  • Performs daily clerical duties, including using EPIC, PACS, Teletracking, and Nuclear Medicine Information System.
  • Works scheduled shifts, including holidays and weekends, and as needed for overtime and on-call duties.
  • Greets patients following A.I.D.E.T. standards.
  • Adheres to policies on Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.
  • Modifies care based on patient needs, considering age, culture, language, and impairments.
  • Follows organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer platforms like Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of one year of Nuclear Medicine experience.
Licenses and Certifications
  • ARRT Certification or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Nuclear Medical Technologist License.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support (HCP) Certification.
Working Conditions
  • Lifts at least 25 lbs., pushes/pulls at least 50 lbs., and stands for at least 6 hours daily.
